Have I mentioned how blessed I feel to be allowed into such special moments to photograph? Every time I photograph a birth it’s like I am experiencing the miracle it is for the first time. It is so special to watch the mom work so hard to bring her little one into this world and to watch the amazing support of the father. The two together are a force. The look on the dad’s face when he can see the baby coming, the look on the mom’s face when her baby is placed on her chest for the first time, the amazing support from the nurses and doctor – it’s such a team effort and an amazing one at that.

As I showed up at Shawnee Mission Medical’s birth center to capture Benjamin’s birth his dad was in a chair reading away at a baby names book. How funny is it that they were still trying to find that perfect name! His mom was so strong and worked so hard to bring this little guy into this world. He was a big boy weighing in at 9 lbs. 3 oz.! Thanks so much to Benjamin’s parents for choosing me to capture this special day!

For all of my birth stories I put together a fusion birth video. This includes both stills and video, the combination of the two really tells the story. Happy Valentines Day!!

I thought this was the perfect post to share today! I captured this adorable 1st birthday last year for M Magazine! Due to the commercial nature of this work I couldn’t share it till 3 months after publication. I thought it may be strange to share Valentines in May so I waited till today! I really enjoyed working on a commercial shoot again. I get so inspired working with a stylist and art director. It reminds me of my days working at the Hallmark Cards photography studio.

This little boys birthday falls close to Valentines day so his mom (Erin Volante) planned an adorable birthday party themed around the holiday! It’s of course done in the most talented DIY style. Seriously Erin you are the best at this stuff!!

I am so excited to photograph Lindsey and Sean’s wedding in 2014!! I can’t believe it’s already 2014. Where did 2013 go? It has to be one of the fastest years yet. I am convinced every year goes faster than the previous.

I loved capturing Lindsey and Sean’s e-session. I really enjoyed getting to know them better and of course photograph them! I always think it’s so important for the photographer and couple to get to know each other before the big day. It really helps me tell THEIR story since I have learned some of their likes and dislikes and a little about their personalities.

These pictures are making me want summer even more!! I feel warm looking at them and that’s saying a lot considering we got about 10″ of snow yesterday.
